Tonight i went to Jeff's shed to do the usual power testing before the big race. I do this test at the start of a training block and just before i tapper for the event. It is a 20 min time trial on the trainer and we take the avg. watts and heart rate.
This simple test tells no lies, it is what it is. I have data going back 12 years on this same machine. This means i know exactly what numbers i need to be at the top. Tonight i smashed the machine apart. It has been 8-10years since i have been able to maintain such an average and i have never done so while in heavy training. The figure is 8% higher than last year and over 15% higher than this years national champs.
As i said this test tells no lies, it is what it is. This has given me a confidence boost i needed, a true confidence boost not a bullshit one. It is not enough to just believe you can do it, although it go's a long way. Back it up with rock solid proof and you have true confidence that you can do it.
All that's left is to get to the start and give it my all for the 24 hours. The result is what happens after the race.
