Increasing Pain Tolerance. (Removing fingernails.)
This week i started to put some intensity into my training. Thursday night crits at Westgate Park would have been a good start.
During the week i received some new light weight tubeless tires from Geax to test. During the process of putting them on the bike for the crit i increased my pain tolerance. While i was doing up the back wheel skewer i managed to insert my thumb into the rear disc while the wheel was spinning. The result was the complete removal of my thumb nail. Breaking out into a full sweet i calmly walked inside to show and explain to Kate what i had just accomplished.
Kate took me down to the doctor, who patched me up. He also said that there would be no riding tonight. If you know me this is not an option, after all i am "tough as nails".
There was a change in the training plan though as i would not be able to make it to the start of the crit. There was really only one option left and that was to go out on the Tour of the Burgs to test my legs a little. All in all this was a satisfactory alternative and has me really excited about the year ahead.

What's been going on and what is install for 2008.
Christmas break has been a little different this year. I've been bricklaying, holidaying and you guessed it riding everyday.
Typical day has been get up 3-4am and go for a 6-8hour ride. Get home and freshen up and either go and lay bricks or spend the rest of the day with the family. Bed time is the same as Mitchell between 7pm-8pm. This weekend i will have off as I'm off to Jan Juc for Kate and my 5 year wedding anniversary. I will be leaving the bike with Mitchell and his grand parents so we can have a weekend of rest and relaxation.
Kate and i are also expecting our 2nd child in May. All is going well and rumor has tipped a girl.
I won't be racing until Hard day at the office followed by the Owtway Odyssey. So you will all have to wait to see if i really have been training or I'm talking crap.
This year the main focus being the Owtway Odyssey then the National 24 hour title which has so far eluded me and the World 24 hour Champs in Canada. Would also like to have a crack at the Crocadile cup after the worlds but will have to see if this is possible.
Next week will be hectic as the crew all start back at work after a well ernt break over Christmas and New Year.
